How to Make French Press Coffee
Project Summary
Someone following a cooking tutorial is standing at the counter, phone propped up, glancing between the screen and their own hands. But most instructional videos are still framed and sized for a big screen, so on a phone the details vanish exactly when the viewer needs them mid-task.
I made this video for Producing Media for Learning, a course in my graduate program, with one constraint driving the design: it had to work on a phone. Every choice follows from the small screen: close-up footage so each step reads at arm’s length, and larger on-screen text and graphics that stay legible at phone size. I handled the whole production end-to-end, from writing the script through filming, voice-over, motion graphics, and the final edit.
