How to Use a Combination Lock

Elementary school usually doesn’t come with a locker. Then you get to middle school, and suddenly there’s a combination to memorize and a lock to work every single day, one more brand-new thing to get right in a building full of brand-new things. For a nervous incoming student, fumbling that combination while the hallway empties and the bell rings is exactly the kind of moment that draws teasing, and kids get teased for the smallest things. It’s a small skill, but it carries real first-day pressure.

This short instructional video was made to take that worry off the table. Created as an educational resource for Lucile Erwin Middle School, it walks incoming students through using a combination lock, step by step, in plain language and clear on-screen demonstration, so a nervous new sixth-grader can watch it once and walk up to their locker knowing exactly what to do. I produced it end to end: writing the script, filming, designing the motion graphics, recording and editing the audio, and cutting the final video.
