Surviving in Place Project
Project Summary
In 2023 and 2024, the Center for Inclusive Design and Engineering (CIDE) partnered with the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (HCPF) to distribute more than 1,700 backup battery systems to families across Colorado who rely on life-sustaining medical equipment. Each battery shipped with an instructional flyer, and participants found the flyers hard to understand and easy to set aside. For this audience, an unread manual isn’t an inconvenience; it’s a family guessing at their equipment during a power outage.
The fix was video. We produced a series of walkthroughs covering both battery models in the program, the EcoFlow Delta 2 Max and the Delta Pro. I handled the filming, voice-over recording, audio editing, motion graphics, and visual design. Every step stays in plain language and on-screen demonstration, built for viewers who are not technical and should never have to be.
The series now supports a program that puts backup power into more than 1,700 Colorado homes, giving each household a resource they can actually follow when it matters.
